Joshua Gerdes, ASA, MAAA

I am a founding partner of Trilogy Actuarial Solutions and have a passion for providing innovative solutions to complex actuarial problems. I view clients as partners and enjoy seeing them succeed as we work together toward a common goal.

Before starting Trilogy with my partners, I worked at a boutique consulting firm in Austin, Texas. As a consultant, I have priced over 20 accident and health products including, but not limited to, Medicare supplement, short term major medical, cancer, critical illness, hospital indemnity, and personal accident. Beyond accident and health, I also have experience with life and annuity products.

I have created and developed business projection models both for individual products as well as total company pro formas. Clients have relied on me for asset adequacy analysis including cash flow testing, gross premium valuation, and premium deficiency testing. I have experience helping clients work through annual statement issues, illustration actuary testing, accident and health re-rating, statutory and GAAP reporting, and risk-based capital analysis.

I truly enjoy innovation and I’m proud to say I priced the first infertility insurance product in the state of Texas. I have hands on experience pricing other cutting-edge products targeting the developing gig economy. It excites me to apply risk-analysis and statistical expertise to new ventures and work alongside entrepreneurs charting new horizons.

My family means everything to me. I would not be the person I am today without my beautiful wife Cassie. We are blessed with a little boy named Luke, who brings a lot of joy to us both.

While I was born in the Marshall Islands, I call Austin Texas home. I have spent over 20 years in the hill country of central Texas – my favorite place in the world. When I’m not working, you will usually find me reading, watching the Longhorns play football, or playing sand volleyball.
